The game of poker is played and enjoyed by literally millions of people around the globe.  You will find this exciting game played on the Internet, in pubs, in live casinos and in living rooms all over the world.  There are many different poker games to choose from, including Texas Holdem, Omaha, Five Card Draw, Seven Card Stud, Caribbean Stud, Video poker and more.

If you are unfamiliar with the rules of these games it is easy to learn to play.  All poker games are played with the same basic rules.  They are played over a series of rounds in which players place bets, receive cards and then, based on these cards, decide to fold (forfeit), call (place a minimum bet) or raise (raise the minimum bet).  At the end of the game, the player with the best hand of cards is the winner.

One of the most popular poker variations is Texas Holdem.  In Holdem, players receive 2 private cards each and share 5 community cards and the player to make the best hand of private and community cards wins.  Omaha is a similar game in which players receive 4 private cards rather than 2 and must create their final hand of exactly 2 private and 3 community cards.

Not all poker games utilize private and community cards.  For instance, the popular game of Five Card Draw includes private cards only.  Players receive 5 cards at the beginning of the game and may choose to discard and redraw in order to improve their hand.
